Bedtime reflections

There is no beauty to dwell upon better than the person of Jesus Christ,

no sight so horrid as the depths of my own sin,

no “wage” to be more feared than the holy wrath of God towards the unrighteous, of whom I once was and yet would still be had it not been for His grace,

no hope more certain than the promises of Scripture,

no purpose more worthy than to love, trust, obey, and enjoy the Almighty,

no sorrow more poignant than seeing those who hate Him refuse eternal life and rush to embrace eternal death,

no grief more significant than knowing every sin I commit is an act of the flesh that saddens my Lord and brings His loving discipline towards me as a father towards his child,

no discipline and trial better helped than knowing that it demonstrates His sufficiency and yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness,

no joy greater than the reconciled bond by the washing of the blood of the Lamb,

no satisfaction sweeter than dwelling in each and every moment with Him,

and no love that surpasses that of the One Who is love.
